Getting ready for summer camp

Dear All

Summer camp is just around the corner! All money for camp is NOW DUE. Please give check made out to Troop 81 to Ron Yeater as soon as possible to avoid late fees.

Please refer to Camp Rainey Mountain web site for what to pack and bring to camp. We will go over this at the next meetings as well.

The next Monday meeting will be held at Highland Creek subdivision pool. This will allow Scouts to pass their swim test to give better access to the waterfront at summer camp.

Rock Climbing and Summer Camp

1. No meeting on Monday February 16 th due to President's Day Holiday.

2. National Boy Scout dues of $60 per scout and $ 30 per adult leader are past due.

3. Summer Camp at Camp Rainey Mountain this year is $250, broken into three payments. The first payment of $85 is past due. If we don't get this payment at the next meeting, Some scouts may miss the opening of registration in early March. The most highly sought after merit badges such as rifle,  shot gun, welding and any of the eagle merit badges often book out the very day that registration opens. Ms Elaine will be at the meeting February 23 to help scouts make good badge selections. Summer camp is great fun and a great way to gain the merit badges towards Eagle.

4. Rock Climbing. Our next outing will be to go rock climbing at "Stone Summit" in Atlanta, a huge indoor rock climbing facility just inside the perimeter. Address is 3701 Presidential Parkway, Atlanta GA, 678 720 9882. Liability forms MUST be filled out on-line at ssclimbing.com. Paper forms are not available. Scouts are to travel in their Class A uniform with their Class B T Shirt underneath.
Meet at the Scout Hut at 9:00 am. This a day trip with returns expected by 3-4pm. Cost is $18. plus any spending money(optional). Scout is to bring sack lunch.

With the new year comes a couple of financial deadlines:

1 National Boy Scout Dues: $60.00 annual dues for Scouts; $30.00 for Adult Leaders- These funds go to meet organizational costs and offset the cost of T- Shirts and local troop expenses.

2 Camp Rainey Mountain Summer: $250.00 June 28-July 4. One of the South's premier summer camps offering the most merit badges of any camp around. Summer camp is fun and adventuresome and helps the Scouts earn many merit badges that assists in their quest for Eagle Rank. Summer camp dues are split into three installments.

Installment 1: $85.00    due February 2
Installment 2: $85.00    due April 6
Installment 3: $80.00    due June 1

Their may be additional fees for certain merit badges such as shot gun or rifle

The sooner you register and pay the more likely the Scout is to receive their first choices in merit badge courses. Some classes fill up early and become unavailable to later registrants.

These can be paid by check made out to Troop 81. Mr and Mrs Yeater are collecting funds. If a scout and his family has financial hardship issues, talk to the scoutmaster Mr Jourdan about assistance available through the scouting program. The cost of Summer camp can be earned by the scout selling Camp Cards that come out in April/May $4 for each $10 savings card sold.

As for this weekend, rather than spend $12-$15 dollars and attend the advanceorama, Troop 81 is having their own Advanceorama with two-three Eagle Merit Badges being taught. Family Life, Personal Management, and Personal Fitness. As the emphasis is on learning, the adults are preparing all the meals.
